ABOUT

GAD stands for Great Audiovisual Discoveries. We rediscover the long-forgotten yet entrancing sounds of yore. We search through the dusty archives to bring you high-quality jazz, psychedelia, and rock, but also soundtracks, library music, funk, soul and easy listening. We wish to remind those hard-to-obtain titles, issued once only on vinyl or cassettes, but also to present material that has never been published before.

We care for details

Our releases primarily consist of carefully selected songs, with care about the quality of sound (we always try to get to the original master tapes) plus extensive liner notes, unpublished photos and memorabilia in booklet. When possible, we work directly with musicians, so that the final outcome is the best possible. We have been entrusted by Jan Ptaszyn-Wroblewski, Włodzimierz Nahorny and groups like Novi Singers, SBB and Klan. Since 2012 we have been publishing materials from the extensive archive of vibraphonist Jerzy Milian, one of the leading representatives of the Polish school of jazz. We are also exploring a rich, multi-dimensional archive of Martin Kratochvil, a Czech pianist and the leader of Jazz Q formation.

Library music for masses

In 2013, we published a compilation named „Sonda”, collecting recordings used in the legendary polish popular science TV show. First edition of CDs was sold out within a week, limited edition on vinyl within three hours. Album, along with an accompanying set of electronic works of Krzysztof Duda (also used in „Sonda”), had excellent reviews and was eagerly presented in many radio shows.

Before records: books and magazine

We were also engaged in the publication of music books (incl. biographies of UK, Camel and Type O Negative). In 2010, we established, and for three years were publisher of quarterly magazine „Lizard” about progressive rock (the magazine is being published up till today). Nowadays, paper publishing are just a small fraction of our business – music in form of vinyl and compact discs are most important.
