In the 80s and 90s of the previous century, the name of Mikołaj Hertel appeared unusually frequently in Polish programmes devoted to el-music. Still more often, on the radio and television there would appear – anonymously – the music itself of the composer. Now, those charming compositions from the artist’s first stage of career are now available on “Epizod A” (Episode A).

Mikołaj Hertel has never been a slave to technology. A graduate of the Warsaw Higher School of Music, he would not focus wholly on the technical aspects of synthesisers, always giving priority to melody, rhythm and harmony. It is exactly for this reason that such compositions as “Światło w środku nocy”, “Róże w ogrodzie Roseto” or “Wewnętrzny puls” clearly stand out after years among the work by other Polish el-musicians of that time. That was also the decisive factor deciding on the tremendous popularity of the music by Mikołaj Hertel as library music: most themes gathered on the record “Epizod A” (Episode A) appeared in such legendary TV series like science-oriented “Sonda” or travel show “Pieprz i wanilia”. And majority of those have never before been available officialy.

“Epizod A” (Episode A) has been remastered from the original radio tapes. CD is supplemented by a booklet, which, apart from photographs and an essay on recordings, includes a letter from the composer to listeners.
