One of the most interesting Czech big-bands in its marvelous live recordings from 1976. Jazz journey through diverse styles and colors!

Jazzový orchestr Československého rozhlasu, active for more than a half century, was one of the most creative big-bands open to new, that was established in Czech Republic. They work, among others, with the rock Blue Effect (legendary “Nova synteza”), they worked on thirdstream compositions, but they never gave up on standards and jazz tradition. This kind of diversity is well heard in a concert album “Jazz ze studia ‘A’” recorded in 1976. It has a very wide program, balancing between hot swing (“Tuturila”), spiritual jazz (“Východ slunce”) and hard funk (“Ohnivá řeka”). These are the great scores in fantastic performance enriched with numerous solo parts of the leading Czech jazzmen, such as the trumpeter, Laco Deczi, and the pianist, Karel Růžička.

“Jazz ze studia ‘A’” is released on a CD for the first time. It is remastered from the original tape. Three additional tracks played by the orchestra in the same period are added. A short essay regarding those tracks can be found in a booklet.
